Food Cravings and Adrenal Fatigue


      In my September 29 & 30 blogs I addressed adrenal fatigue. One of the results of adrenal fatigue, other than being exhausted, is food cravings. When the adrenals have been over taxed to the point that they have decided to go on vacation, (leaving you high and dry), the body is desperate for any means to obtain quick energy. Caffeine, chocolate, sweets, and other foods high on the glycemic index supply short bursts of energy. The down side to these quick fixes is that they are usually followed by bigger crashes. Many people attempt to make it through each day, day after day, on a roller coaster of energy peaks and dives, desperate for anything to avoid, or recover from the crashes, living from one caffeinated drink, or snack, to the next.
      Signs of adrenal fatigue are being exhausted first thing in the morning, even after what should have been enough sleep, and when exercise makes people more exhausted. At this point it is time to seek the help of a qualified Holistic practitioner, trained in nutritional supplementation, and dealing with adrenal fatigue, to regain energy and quality of life.
